NFL Weekly Roundup (Week 8)

Thursday Night Football:

Ravens 40 Dolphins 0

What an embarrassing game for all Dolphins fans around the world. This shows why we need major change in the play calls and demonstrates how dire the situation has become without Ryan Tannehill playing QB. Credit to the Ravens defense for this throwback performance of pure dominance, shown in their two Super Bowl winning teams.

Sunday:

Vikings 33 Browns 16

For the most part, the Browns were able to answer all of what the Vikings did throughout the game, it was looking like it may be their first win. In typical Browns fashion though, it all crumbled in the 4th quarter and Minnesota was easily able to win this game in London. The Browns are looking like the favorites for the number 1 pick of next year’s draft, so it’s business as usual for Cleveland.

Patriots 21 Chargers 13

This was a very good back and forth between a team looking to stay in Super Bowl contention, In New England and a team looking to reach .500 and possible playoff contention, in the L.A. Chargers. QB Phillip Rivers threw an interception on the final Hail Mary play, which allowed the Pats to edge this one out. Rivers has still never beaten Tom Brady in his very respectable career.

Saints 20 Bears 12

The highlight of the game was a terrible one, in the Zach Miller injury. When catching a touchdown, he landed extremely awkwardly on his left leg, which caused him to be carted off the field and sent to the nearest hospital for emergency surgery. He came very close to having his leg amputated, but we are all very happy to hear the news that it will not be necessary. We hope for a speedy recovery for Zach Miller. In terms of the game itself, this was a pure Saints offensive display, showing the world, why Drew Brees and New Orleans are for real in their playoff push.

Panthers 17 Buccaneers 3

The Panthers were easily able to dismantle this once extremely hyped up Tampa Bay squad. QB Jameis Winston did not have a game to remember, as he threw for 210yds and 2INTs. The Bucs now stand at 2-5, which is a huge drop-off from last year. Carolina is priming for a playoff spot and looking to get back to their Super Bowl contending form, which they have been playing like so far.

Bengals 24 Colts 23

In this game between two of the more below average teams in the league, the Bengals were able to edge this one out, thanks in part to the solid 243yd, 2TD outing by QB Andy Dalton. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Bengals and Colts fans, but neither one of your teams are reaching the postseason this year and this game demonstrated that.

Bills 34 Raiders 14

What is happening to the Oakland Raiders!? They were destined to be one of the best teams in the AFC, but thanks to a short-term injury to QB Derek Carr, inconsistent offense overall, and putrid defense, they are looking terrible. The Buffalo Bills were able to easily win this contest in front of their home fans, thanks mostly to the insane outing by RB LeSean McCoy. He ran for 151yds on 27 carries and 1TD.

Eagles 33 49ers 10

The Eagles once again showed the league why they have the best record in this game, against an unconvincing San Francisco team. Carson Wentz is showing the world why he should be in the MVP consideration, as he threw another 2TDs this game, to bring his overall total to 19 this year on only 5INTs.

Falcons 25 Jets 20

This Falcons team, regardless of the uninspiring win, is not anywhere near as good as last year. It could be possible that the result of last year’s Super Bowl and the way the game played out, has messed with them psychologically so badly that they are not very good anymore. The Jets despite losing where the stronger team this game and are looking to continue their momentum as the year goes on.

Seahawks 41 Texans 38

This was definitely the game of the week. Two young star QB’s throwing for a combined 854yds and 8TDs, for two teams fighting for playoff contention in their respective conferences, made social media buzz. This high scoring game was on everyone’s television, when it came down to the game winning TD catch by TE Jimmy Graham of Seattle and the interception thrown by QB Deshaun Watson of Houston. Regardless of the loss, the Texans have finally found their QB after years of finding one.

Cowboys 33 Redskins 19

This game between division rivals wasn’t as entertaining as many thought it would be. It ended up being an easy win for Dallas as they managed to score almost every time they had the ball. RB Ezekiel Elliott was able to get bailed out of his suspension for the millionth time and ran for 150 yds and 2TDs. The Cowboys are looking to get back into the playoffs and after this convincing win, it could be possible.

Steelers 20 Lions 15

This Sunday Night showdown was the battle of the dominant Pittsburgh offense against a Lions one that couldn’t score a TD to save their lives. K Matt Prater kicked 5 field goals to help give Detroit a chance to win this game. Big Ben Roethlisberger is looking like he has regained some of his old form and take his team into contention.

Monday Night Football:

Chiefs 29 Broncos 19

In arguably the worst game of the week, the Chiefs were easily able to beat their division rivals, in Denver. The Denver offense, especially QB Trevor Siemian, had their worst performance in recent years, as they couldn’t do anything for most of the game. This game solidifies the fact that this isn’t Denver’s year to make the playoffs.
