UFC 229 – Khabib v. McGregor Prediction

The biggest fight in UFC history is happening tonight! The hype is real as UFC Lightweight Champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov faces off against former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor. I have a lot to say about this fight, so let’s get right into the prediction

Khabib v. McGregor (Main Event fight) Khabib wins via submission in round 4

As a McGregor fan, this hurts, but let me explain my prediction. Conor has not fought in the UFC for two years (since his title winning fight against Eddie Alvarez), and hasn’t fought a fight period in one year (Mayweather v. McGregor boxing match). Instead of taking a “warmup” fight to get back into fighting form before this bout, McGregor is going straight for Khabib. This very real beef has lasted for the better part of a year, when Khabib and his entourage cornered and harmed Conor’s sparring partner Artem Lobov. In retaliation, McGregor and a gang of 20-odd men showed up backstage to a UFC press conference and started breaking into a bus that many fighters were on, including Khabib himself. Conor damaged the bus and injured many of the fighters on there, as glass tore through the faces of some and some were left emotionally damaged. He was sentenced to court and is currently being sued by almost everyone that was on that bus. Instead of fighting between the two, by themselves, they decided to make money in the process and make it a must-see UFC event. Going into the fight, both fighters are extremely energetic and anxious to punch each other in the face. During the fight itself, I anticipate Conor getting the early two rounds, as his stamina will be high and I’m sure he will make it a mission to avoid being taken down to the ground by the wrestling specialist that is Khabib Nurmagomedov. Later on in the fight though, fatigue starts to settle in for both fighters. As we know from previous fights though, Conor is more prone to feeling fatigue and his stamina drops pretty significantly in these later rounds. Here is where I think Khabib will capitalize, take him to the ground, and make him tap.

This is sure to be a great fight and I hope that many of you will be watching, as I will certainly be. Despite my prediction being for Khabib, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Conor ends this fight early, as he has done so various times in his illustrious career. This will be must-see TV!
