IRMA was the first major hurricane to hit the Florida straits and peninsula in over a decade. Many people evacuated the region on fears that it could become another Andrew, the devastating hurricane that leveled out Homestead in 1992, leaving thousands without homes, power and hope.
Fortunately, building codes have improved enormously since that terrible event, helping many people withstand the effects of a hurricane and allowing many to stay home.
Unfortunately, due to some technical glitches, many old posts were lost along with their respective comments. We apologize for this and promise to post more in the near future.
